Re: SEND THE TAMIL ILLEGALS BACK
Dear Mr. Harper:
We, the undersigned, are disappointed and disillusioned by the weakness of your government in light of the intrusion into Canadian waters on the Thai-registered NV Sun Sea, a boat your government has identified as a people smuggling operation. On August 13, the Canadian Government escorted this vessel of illegals into CFB Esquimalt. The smugglers had won.
Now the long process or “refugee” claims begins. The cost to Canadians will be horrific. We’ll, of course, pay for the government lawyers and investigator
We applaud your government’s efforts to secure national sovereignty: a) the purchase of new transport planes for our armed forces; b) purchase of new fighters for our airforce; c) assertion of Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic; d) new measures of assert a presence in our Arctic in furtherance of our claims.
However, your government has given the Tamil Tiger people smugglers a cheap victory. They have won. Smuggling works and the stern warnings of Public Safety Minister Vic Toews are just an act. Not surprisingly, emboldened by our wimpish response, the Tamil Tiger smugglers have two more boats loading up and heading for Canada.
British Columbians couldn’t help but notice that, after the closing of hospital wings and curtailment of health services for “budgetary reasons,” austerity suddenly flew out the window and there were plenty of medical services available to people who had never contributed a cent to Canada and who had sneaked in uninvited. We urge you to: Cease these hearings and deport all these illegals;
The polls are unequivocal. Canadians want these queue jumping illegals out!
- A Toronto Star reader’s poll asked, “Should the Tamil illegals be turned back before arriving?” Fully 78% answered YES; 16% NO. (Toronto Star, August 15, 2010)
- The Toronto Sun commissioned a Leger Marketing poll when the illegals were still on the high seas, August 2-4. It found 60% of Canadians believed that the illegals “should be turned away [and] the boat should be escorted back to Sri Lanka by the Canadian Navy.” The numbers of those believing you should never have let the illegals land soared to 74% in your own home province of Alberta. (Toronto Sun, August 20, 2010)
- An Angus Reid poll taken last week found 63% of Canadians believe the illegals should be sent back to Sri Lanka. “Another 83 per cent of respondents felt the migrants are jumping the immigration queue and should be forced to apply like other foreigners who want to come to the country. … Another 83 per cent of respondents felt the migrants are jumping the immigration queue and should be forced to apply like other foreigners who want to come to the country.” (CTV, August 19, 2010)
Regain control of Canada’s borders by introducing legislation in Parliament, using Sec. 33 of our Constitution (“the notwithstanding” clause) to overturn the revolutionary 1985 decision by the Supreme Court of Canada granting virtual Canadian citizen rights to illegals. To secure our borders, we urge you to introduce legislation specifying that the only way to seek immigration or refugee status is to apply and be vetted abroad. No more flying in or sailing into Canada, jumping the queue and announcing “I’m a refugee.”
Prime Minister, it’s time to put Canada and Canadians first and regain control of our borders.
Sincerely yours,
